Budućnost Voli and Partizan head into the 27th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League locked in a tie at the top of the standings, highlighting the significance of the derby set to take place at “Mtel Dvorana Morača” tomorrow at 19:00.
The “blues” coach, Andrej Žakelj, recognizes the weight of this match.
“It’s going to be a challenging and crucial game for both teams. We’ve had time to prepare, and I trust that Partizan will be well-prepared too. Despite some squad issues, we must maintain our focus and motivation,” Žakelj stated, also addressing the current form of the opponent.
“Partizan demonstrated strong performance against Real Madrid recently; they aim to carry that momentum forward. We need to capitalize on their weaknesses while tackling their strengths. We’re eagerly looking forward to the game, and with a full arena, we must play boldly and with confidence,” concluded Žakelj.
Beyond the customary respect and camaraderie inherent in sports rivalries, both clubs share a connection through Đorđije Jovanović.
The Montenegrin national player will compete against his former team from Belgrade and believes that this match will differ from mid-December when Budućnost triumphed away against the “black and whites” with a score of 97:90.
“There will be changes on both sides since the last encounter. Several months have passed, and both teams have evolved, perhaps even improved. This match is vital, and we will be highly motivated. Our defensive focus is crucial, especially in countering Partizan’s one-on-one plays. I anticipate an electric atmosphere as I’ve heard tickets are sold out; all of this fuels our drive to succeed. We aim to harness the energy from our fans effectively and secure the win,” emphasized Jovanović.
