“Sharks Discover Their Opponents’ Names for the Paris Games”
A challenging draw was anticipated, but it seems the Montenegrin water polo players face an even tougher task at the Olympic Games.
The “Sharks” will compete in Group A in Paris, vying for a spot in the quarterfinals alongside Italy, Croatia, Romania, Greece, and the United States, as outlined in the draw held tonight in Doha.
Interestingly, Romania was included in the Olympic Games draw, despite previous announcements suggesting it might take the place of South Africa, representing the African continent.
This development implies that Vladimir Gojković’s team may secure a visa for the City of Light, having faced elimination by Romania in the round of 16 at the World Cup.
Montenegro was drawn from the sixth pot, sharing it with France, and the water polo tournament at the Olympic Games is slated to take place from July 28 to August 11.
This will mark the fifth time our national team competes in the Olympic Games—finishing fourth in 2008, 2012, and 2016, and eighth in 2021.
