“Difovci Exits in Quarterfinals of Student Basketball League”
Teams from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Science, University of Donja Gorica, and Faculty of Law have advanced to the semi-finals of the Meridianbet Student League of Montenegro. Notably, three teams from Group B and one from Group A made it to the semi-finals, including the reigning champions, the Faculty of Science, who finished the league in third place.
The biggest surprise in the quarter-finals came from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, which, despite being the fourth seed in Group B, upset Group A leader Faculty of Sport and Physical Education with a score of 38:36. After winning all five group matches, the “difovci” unexpectedly faltered at the knockout stage. Another intense match was seen between the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Law, where the latter triumphed thanks to a solid performance in the second half, winning 44:36 over the favored “Gradjevinci.” Thus, the “Gradjevinci,” who had previously secured four straight group wins, faced losses in two crucial matches—first to the “difovci” for top position in Group A, and subsequently to the “lawyers” in the semi-final qualification.
In the other two quarter-finals, there were no doubts about the outcomes, as Group B winner University of Donja Gorica delivered a strong performance against the Faculty of Economics, winning 65:43. The Faculty of Science also demonstrated superiority over the Studentski dom from Nikšić, emerging victorious with a score of 65:37.
The semi-final matchups will be: Electrical Engineering vs. Faculty of Science and Mathematics, and University of Donja Gorica vs. Faculty of Law.
