The Government of Montenegro, along with the municipalities of Zeta and Tivat, is set to formalize an agreement ensuring that any funds allocated through a potential airport concession are exclusively utilized for significant infrastructure projects within their respective areas.

This initiative ensures that the generated revenue will be directed towards enhancing local communities, effectively allocated and invested to bolster infrastructure and other vital sectors in these municipalities.

This was a crucial point raised during the meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and the mayors of Tivat and Zeta, Željko Komnenović and Mihailo Asanović. The meeting highlighted the common goal of improving citizens’ quality of life while generating new job opportunities.

Initially, we must assess whether the concession will be granted. What is certain, however, is that we are united with the municipalities in our pursuit to hasten the execution of capital projects. In this light, we are prepared to sign agreements that clearly outline the projects expected to yield the most benefits for citizens in the shortest timeframe. Our goal is to fully meet the needs of local communities and offer them the necessary support for their ongoing development, stated Prime Minister Spajić.

The mayors of Tivat and Zeta expressed their complete endorsement of this strategy, emphasizing that potential concession funds represent a valuable opportunity to initiate several strategic projects within their municipalities.

Our primary focus is on infrastructure investment—projects in this domain must be advanced swiftly and without any delay. We are pleased that the Government acknowledges the importance of reaching decisions in collaboration with local authorities, as this is the correct approach to fulfilling our citizens’ needs, remarked President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović.

Likewise, President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović, underscored the critical nature of effective fund management for his municipality, prioritizing projects that will yield tangible benefits for the local populace.

Any initiative that brings concrete advantages to the people of Zeta is welcome. As a municipality still advancing in both administrative and infrastructural domains, we are preparing a series of projects where these potential funds could be judiciously invested, remarked Asanović.

The discussions also encompassed various current issues and avenues for further development and strengthening collaboration between the central government and local self-governments, all for the benefit of the citizens.
