Today, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić expressed that he has heard numerous accusations from President Jakov Milatović in recent days, and he feels sympathy for him.
This statement was made during a press conference following a Government session.
Spajić was addressed with inquiries about his views on Milatović’s criticisms concerning the Agreement between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as whether this undermined the truce established after the elections in Podgorica.
“We have encountered a multitude of accusations from the president lately, and I genuinely feel for him. He is the only one capable of negotiating with the DPS (Democratic Party of Socialists); fortunately, he was not able to achieve his initial objectives in Podgorica. He pushed for the reinstatement of Judge Đuranović, a stance shared by the DPS. That did not come to fruition, as we have transitioned to a European model where the Venice Commission will ultimately decide. This approach received support from all major parties in parliament. The European Commission also backed it, with Kaja Kalas highlighting its significance for Montenegro—internal cohesion is crucial. I perceive this as an endeavor by certain political entities, though I’m unsure how to categorize it,” Spajić articulated, noting that the European Parliament also unanimously passed conclusions on the matter.
On the subject of the Agreement, he mentioned that the President of the European Commission announced negotiations with the UAE last night, addressing those who had hesitations regarding the EU’s stance on collaboration and investments from that nation.
