Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have established fruitful bilateral cooperation, with significant potential for enhancing tourism, supported by better air connectivity and upgraded infrastructure.
This was highlighted during a meeting between Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, who is currently on an official visit to the UAE, and the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zejoudi.
Kordić is visiting the UAE at the invitation of the UAE Ministry of Economy and as part of the AIM Congress, which has commenced in Abu Dhabi.
She engaged in discussions with Al Zejoudi today.
“It was acknowledged during the meeting that prior efforts have led to successful bilateral cooperation, yet there remains a substantial opportunity for growth in tourism, necessitating good air connectivity and enhanced infrastructure,” the statement noted.
The meeting also focused on reinforcing relations based on the Memorandum of Cooperation, which serves as an important framework for exploring numerous collaborative opportunities between the two nations.
Al Zejoudi expressed keen interest in Montenegro and the broader region, indicating his willingness to aid in efforts to promote Montenegro within the UAE.
“Kordić briefed him on the strategic objectives aimed at promoting investment in modern tourism sectors, boosting the northern region, and enhancing infrastructure to ensure Montenegro evolves into a comprehensive year-round tourism destination,” the statement mentioned.
The discussions highlighted Montenegro’s potential for expanding MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism and underscored the importance of investments in congress facilities.
Kordić also introduced Al Zejoudi to the concept of regional tourism cooperation, proposing a collective strategy to reach distant markets, which would enable tourists from those areas, including the UAE, to explore multiple countries in one journey.
It is scheduled for Kordić to speak tomorrow, at the invitation of UN Tourism, alongside AIM Congress and UNCTAD, during a Ministerial Roundtable focused on Investments in Tourism.
She will address the topic “Shaping Investment Opportunities in Tourism through Innovation Policies,” showcasing Montenegro’s tourism investment capabilities and incentives.
