The Coalition “For the Future of Nikšić” (ZBNK) plans to file criminal complaints with relevant authorities on Monday due to alarming attempts to destabilize the political and social order in Nikšić and Montenegro, orchestrated by the former regime and its political affiliates, as announced by the coalition.
They indicated that the criminal complaints will address incitements of national, religious, and racial hatred and intolerance, false crime reporting, public disturbances, misinformation that incites panic, attempts to subvert constitutional order, and organized assaults on property, vehicles, and public safety.
The coalition labeled the claims regarding seized funds at the Ranche border crossing as blatant falsehoods.
“Those who propagate such lies bear full responsibility for misleading the public and attempting to manipulate the electoral process,” they stated.
“In the context of Nikšić experiencing a remarkable 50% decrease in unemployment for the first time in many years—with over five individuals securing stable, well-paying jobs daily, the arrival of foreign investors (Big Fashion) bringing thousands of new jobs, and the development of ‘Sunny City’ providing opportunities for youth to remain and build their futures—fake political entities are trying to regain power by exploiting the chaos they cultivate. At DPS (Democratic Party of Socialists) rallies, we hear chants such as: ‘Why did you incite a chetnik mob against us…'”, the statement continued.
The ZBNK coalition asserted that at DPS events, they witness “iconography reminiscent of Munich in 1933 and hear rhetoric entirely at odds with European values.”
“What we are witnessing transcends a mere political campaign; it is a calculated attempt to provoke interethnic strife, disrupt public order, and discredit political adversaries through fabricated scandals and media deceit. The ‘For the Future of Nikšić’ coalition will ensure that our city does not fall into the divisions of nationality, religion, or language,” they emphasized.
They asserted the importance of clarity in light of current events.
“DPS cannot be viewed as the opposition. It represents an organized remnant of a system that governed for 30 years through fear, party loyalty, and a collusion with criminal factions. Now, they seek to reclaim power by aligning with an extreme wing mischaracterized as the ‘European Union’, which primarily exists to impede what DPS is prohibited from signing. Their allegations bear no relevance to political realities and merely extend a narrative designed to instill chaos before the elections. Nikšić is a city that does not forget, and it does not forgive those who have stripped it of jobs, identity, and dignity,” the statement concluded.
They highlighted that “there can be no victory without the downfall of Milo Đukanović, nor will there be reconciliation without establishing his full accountability.”
The ‘For the Future of Nikšić’ coalition urges all relevant institutions to promptly take action against those employing hate speech, inciting national intolerance, and jeopardizing the security of all citizens. Nikšić is aware of its past—it recognizes who built and who dismantled. The city we are collectively rebuilding will continue to flourish, undeterred by those wishing to revert it to a time of fear, intimidation, and theft,” they concluded.
