Admir Šahmanović, the Minister of Mining, Oil and Gas and Head of the Ministry of Energy, announced that the Nikšić Steelworks is currently manufacturing anodized components for the “Solari 5000+” initiative. A decision regarding the continuation of this work will be made after evaluating the first ten projects.
He noted that all activities are being conducted under an energy efficiency program, with this “pilot phase” taking place across ten facilities.
Šahmanović further clarified that the planned drone production at the Nikšić Steelworks has been canceled after analysis, citing unacceptable technology, lack of demand, and unfeasibility for such production.
In response to questions from MPs in Parliament about employment at the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG), he provided insights into the hiring trends over the past four years.
“The employment situation is complex. As of January 1, 2021, EPCG had 938 employees, and by March 24, 2025, that number increased to 1,187. However, from April 2024 to March 2025, there was a reduction of 55 employees, and this trend is expected to continue this year,” emphasized Šahmanović, adding that 421 workers were employed at “Solar Gradnja” as of March this year.
