Joanikije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church, expressed his hopes for the leaders of the country after officiating the Easter liturgy at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica. He remarked on the necessity for those in power to come together for the good of Montenegro and its citizens, stating, “I trust that they will know how to sit down and agree on matters that benefit all who reside here.”
The liturgy observed both Easter and the celebration of the Cathedral, drawing a significant crowd.
Among the attendees were: President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović and his wife, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić with his spouse, Speaker of the Parliament Andrija Mandić and his wife, Mayor of Podgorica Saša Mujović accompanied by his wife, Speaker of the Capital City Assembly Jelena Borovinić Bojović, Minister of Health Vojislav Šimun, and Deputy Prime Minister Filip Ivanović…
In his Easter address, Joanikije conveyed, “May all enjoy a joyous holiday. Heaven and earth rejoice, as do all of creation and the birds of the mountains. Especially our children, who are pure in heart, feel the true joy of this occasion. In essence, we are all children of God; we form one family.”
He added, “I extend my greetings to the leaders of both the Montenegrin government and the Podgorica government. It is a heartening sight to see those entrusted with the nation’s leadership participating in this sacred service alongside their people. I’m reassured by their good intentions, believing they will collaborate for the betterment of Montenegro and its inhabitants. We pray that God enlightens them and leads them towards unity, understanding, and love as we strive together for good and salvation.”
“Wishing everyone good health, may the joy we experienced today fill your souls, your homes, and your families. May this Divine joy, of heavenly origin and eternal essence, dwell in our hearts as long as possible, renewing us and instilling God’s love within us. Let us live, act, and support one another, embracing each other in brotherly harmony and love. Amen, God willing! Christ is Risen,” concluded Joanikije.
