Ensuring Montenegro’s Resources Are Preserved, Not Wasted on Waterfront Apartments in Belgrade and Dubai
The president of the Civic Movement URA, Dritan Abazović, stated that it is crucial for Montenegro and its resources to avoid being squandered on waterfront apartments in places like Belgrade or Dubai, or invested in cryptocurrency prizes.
Abazović emphasized, “The intention of this group taking power was to fragment Montenegro. Why not admit this is why you feel troubled by URA? Why was URA removed from the local government in Ulcinj?” This was discussed during the podcast “Friday with Dritan,” as announced by GP URA.
He described the situation as a corrupt arrangement, highlighting that the Prime Minister showcased the project to investors prematurely.
“You presented their project before the investors, which had been planned in Belgrade for two years. Why don’t you acknowledge that? Why don’t you admit you’re part of a group entangled in corruption in Belgrade? Why is part of DPS, which is also involved, silent, just like in the case of Sveti Stefan? Why not confess your aim was to take power to sell out Montenegro? You claim URA bothered you, which is why the Ulcinj government was changed from Podgorica. By doing that, you’ve helped us—now everyone in Ulcinj resents you, and I expect the Municipal Assembly to take further actions against you,” said Abazović.
He added that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić’s criticism isn’t limited to Velika Plaza.
“Spajić implies there’s no sale of property. However, when you lease something for 90 years, what can we, as citizens, do on Luštica, which is also leased for that same timeframe? You effectively lose ownership. The lease on Velika Plaza lasts until 2115. If someone buys a property, what will happen—will you take it from them? There’s a legal provision stating that when land is leased long-term with Government consent, it can be purchased. What are you talking about? You seem unaware of the laws. If you were, you wouldn’t speak like this. Hence, the Special State Prosecutor’s Office should have responded by now,” Abazović remarked.
Regarding potential EU commentary on the agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), he mentioned having no issues with scrutiny from the European Commission or the Venice Commission.
“Politicians should prioritize citizens’ interests and must hold a clear stance. If you lack one, step down as MPs, president, or ministers. Let capable individuals take the lead. The national interest is for Montenegro and its resources to be safeguarded from being wasted on waterfront apartments in Belgrade, Dubai, or cryptocurrency prizes, evaporating in just a few years. This won’t be tolerated. Civic awareness has been awakened. You were caught in the act. Over 10,000 people have signed a petition against this corrupt agreement. We are nearing our goal to defend our country,” he stated.
Abazović also drew a comparison to the leasing of Sveti Stefan:
“Who wants to transform Velika Plaža into a transient space, constructing apartments for just 10-15 days each year while the state gains nothing? Sveti Stefan has been locked for the fourth year because Statis can’t proceed with apartments. If construction were permitted in Miločerski Park, the hotel would operate regardless of profitability. The operational methods remain consistent. Further clarity will emerge in upcoming days, as we are preparing concrete actions,” Abazović declared.
The URA Border Police statement noted Abazović’s reminder of the slogan from Žabljak:
“You won’t progress any further. You’ve misled to get this far, but you won’t advance any longer,” concluded the president of GP URA.
