EC Confirms Government’s Stance on Agreement Alignment
The letter from Ms. Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, clearly affirms that the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism and Real Estate Development between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates does not contain any provisions that conflict with the EU acquis, thereby reinforcing what I stated during the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) session of the European Parliament.
As I highlighted then, the contents of the agreements align with both the legal framework of the European Union and the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA). In fact, this is explicitly mentioned within the agreements themselves. Additionally, it is crucial to recognize that their implementation has not yet commenced, meaning they do not currently have any tangible legal or practical effects.
We receive the recommendations from the European Commission with utmost attention and respect.
Montenegro is steadfast in its commitment to its European path. All actions taken by the Government on an international level are aimed at enhancing economic relations while consistently pursuing the strategic objective of EU membership and adhering to the obligations that arise from this process.
