Džaković Takes Third Place in Azerbaijan, Saška Đurović Shines in Portugal

Montenegrin volleyball players continue to make a significant impact on the international stage, showcasing their talents in national championship finals. While they did not reach the finals this time, their performances were commendable. Danijela Džaković secured a bronze medal in the Azerbaijan championship, and Saška Đurović put on an impressive display in the Portuguese championship, though she didn’t advance to the finals. Meanwhile, Simona Petranović is vying for her first cup of the season with the Croatian team Mladost.

National team member Danijela Džaković achieved third place in the Azerbaijan Championship with her team, Mili Avijasi. In a two-match “consolation” final, her team triumphed over the Gence team, winning 3:1 and 3:2 in sets. Džaković played a pivotal role in her team’s success, scoring 22 points in the first match and 18 in the second. In the competition for a spot in the finals, her team faced a tough battle against Azerail, where the outcome was decided in a “golden set.” Džaković rose to the occasion, tallying 14 and 21 points in the two matches, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to reach the finals.

International player Saška Đurović also came close to reaching the finals of the Portuguese championship, but her team, Sporting, lost to Braga in the decisive match, finishing with a score of 3:1. Đurović contributed seven points in that match. In the fight for third place, Sporting will compete against Porto, and in the first match, Đurović shone with 21 points. She showcased her skills by achieving a 60% success rate in attacks, with five points from blocks, 15 from attacks, and one ace.

Another member of the Montenegrin national team is competing in the finals of the domestic championship with her team. Simona Petranović, representing Mladost in the Croatian championship finals, had a mixed performance after two games. The Zagreb team initially won convincingly at home but then suffered a defeat on the road against the Dinamo team, also concluding with a score of 3:0. Petranović did not participate in these matches.
