Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić emphasized the equal importance of investing in resource preservation alongside the development of the tourism sector.
She is attending the “14th Annual Investment Meeting 2025 – AIM Congress” in Abu Dhabi, where she participated in the Ministerial Roundtable focused on “Shaping Investment Opportunities in Tourism through Innovation Policies.”
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the AIM Congress serves as a premier global investment platform, attracting over 20,000 participants from 180 countries.
In her address, Kordić highlighted that market analyses indicate a significant transformation in tourism, affecting both consumer preferences and the duration of tourist stays: “The impact of the COVID pandemic made it evident that we must adapt to new trends and develop policies that allow us to respond to these shifts while managing tourism growth,” she stated.
She noted that in Montenegro, these changes are leading to a focus on high-quality tourism development.
“Today’s travelers increasingly seek authentic experiences—whether in natural beauty, lifestyle, or cultural heritage. This trend is prevalent not only in our country but also in the UAE, which recognizes these shifts. What was once a conventional cultural tourism package is now desired in a completely new way. Alongside enhancing our tourism offerings, we must also focus on resource conservation. Achieving a balance that preserves nature while ensuring access for all is crucial. Sustainability remains the cornerstone of our policy,” the minister explained.
She added that the Ministry of Tourism actively supports renewable energy use through energy efficiency programs, contributing to sustainable development and environmental preservation while considering the economic viability of the tourism sector.
“Our current priority is the advancement of rural tourism, aimed not only at direct investments but also at engaging the local population to create an authentic and appealing tourism experience. We also continue to focus on luxury resorts, hotels, and high-end accommodations. Prestigious hotel brands are now present in Montenegro, positioning us in the luxury tourism market,” Kordić highlighted.
AIM Congress President and UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zejodi emphasized that this event would serve as a vital platform for the global community to collaborate, innovate investment strategies, and establish a framework for inclusive and sustainable growth.
