Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska (RS), stated in Jerusalem today that there are numerous parallels between RS and Israel, as well as between himself and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"There are many similarities. Our peoples both face ongoing attempts to deny them their right to exist and make their own choices. Both Netanyahu and I find ourselves targeted, not due to any wrongdoing, but because we refuse to back down. When they can’t defeat you at the polls, they seek other means to remove you," Dodik expressed in an interview with the JNS news agency, which he shared on Iks.

During his attendance at the International Conference on Combating Anti-Semitism, Dodik voiced his "steadfast support for Israel," a nation he professed to "deeply respect for its strength, history, and determination."

Regarding the legislation passed by the RS National Assembly that restricts the operation of certain state judicial and police bodies in the region after the Court of BiH ruled against it for not adhering to the High Representative's decisions, Dodik asserted, "I will not resign, as only the people have the right to choose their leaders—not foreign judges or fabricated trials."

"The political court delivers political verdicts. They are attempting, through the judiciary in Sarajevo, to achieve what they cannot in elections: the removal of Milorad Dodik from politics," he stated.

He added that his response is to "forge ahead, visit Israel, engage with friends, and defend the interests of the people who elected him at every opportunity."

While Dodik is in Israel, media outlets in BiH report on his departure from Bosnia and Herzegovina amid an active central arrest warrant against him. He, along with RS Parliament Speaker Nenad Stevandić and entity Prime Minister Radovan Višković, has not responded to a summons regarding allegations of undermining the country's constitutional order.
