Aspirations for the European Championship
The Montenegrin U16 women’s volleyball team has journeyed to Maribor to compete in the second round of European Championship qualifications from April 25 to 27.
Coach Petar Koković has finalized the roster of players who will participate in the last three qualifying matches.
Our youngest volleyball stars will kick off the qualifications in Group A with a match against Slovakia, scheduled for Friday at 3 PM. The following day, at the same time, they will take on the Romanian national team, and in the last round, they will face the host team of Slovenia on Sunday at 5:30 PM.
“After 12 days of preparation in Stara Pazova, including two practice matches with the Serbian national team, we are pleased with our progress. We head to Slovenia highly motivated to showcase our skills. We have three challenging matches ahead, starting with the Slovak national team, and our focus is solely on that game. We aim to replicate the fighting spirit, discipline, and on-court attitude from previous qualifiers, as those qualities yield results. We are not intimidated and are eager to compete against everyone,” remarked coach Koković.
The coaching staff supporting Coach Petar Koković includes coaches Nikola Radomirović and Andrea Laković, fitness coach Jovan Ristić, and statistician Ognjen Marković.
The top two teams from each of the five qualifying groups, along with the best third-placed team, will earn a spot in the final tournament of the European Championship, taking place from July 2 to 13 in Tirana and Pristina. A total of 16 of the finest national teams from Europe will participate in the championship.
