Pioneers Defeat Slovakia, Nearing Historic European Championship Qualification
The Montenegrin women’s volleyball team is on the brink of making history.
Our U16 squad kicked off the tournament in Maribor with a victory over Slovakia, winning the matches 25:23, 26:24, and 25:16. They are now just one win away from securing a spot in the European Championship, set to take place this summer in Tirana and Pristina.
This Saturday at 3 PM, Montenegro will face Romania, followed by a match against Slovenia on Sunday at 5:30 PM. Winning either of these two games will secure their qualification for the continental competition, making them the first women’s volleyball team to reach the European Championship.
In the second qualifying phase, two teams from each of the five groups will advance to the European Championship, along with the best-performing third-placed team.
Klara Đukić was the standout player in the match against Slovakia, scoring 12 points. Elena Jovanović contributed with 10 points, while Jana Mrdak added six. Nađa Peković and Sofija Duletić each scored five points.
