“Lavice” vs. Romania, Serbia, and the Czech Republic
The Montenegrin women’s handball team has been placed in group B alongside Romania, Serbia, and the Czech Republic for the upcoming European Championship, as revealed during the draw in Vienna today.
The “Lice” were chosen from the first hat, and it was already established prior to the event that they would compete in group B, which will be hosted in Debrecen.
This year’s European Championship will take place in Hungary, Austria, and Switzerland from November 28 to December 15. The initial phase will occur in Debrecen, Basel, and Innsbruck. Both Debrecen and Vienna will host critical stages, with the Austrian capital serving as the venue for the semi-finals, third-place match, and final.
Group B, featuring Montenegro, will face groups A and C in the main stage. Group A consists of Sweden, Hungary, North Macedonia, and Turkey, while Group C includes France, Spain, Poland, and Portugal.
The EHF Euro 2024 marks the first continental championship with 24 participating teams, as opposed to the previous 16. Each of the six groups will contain four teams, with the top two from each advancing to the main stage, where two groups of six teams will be formed. Subsequently, the two leading teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.
