Following in the footsteps of another prestigious handball nation, Montenegrin goalkeeper Nikola Matović will take the role of goalkeeper for French Saran starting next season. This team boasts a history filled with European and Olympic champions.
He will share the goalkeeping duties with Nebojša Simić at the “lions” club, which also features fellow Montenegrin Luka Radović, arriving from Amo in Sweden.
The tradition of appreciating Montenegrin players is evident, as shown by the club’s previous captain, Vasko Ševaljević, who also represented this team.
The club, located in central France, is currently in a struggle for survival in the French LNH 1 league, positioned just one point above the relegation zone. Should they maintain their spot in the first division, Matović will have the chance to compete in one of Europe’s top two leagues next season.
Prior to his stint in Sweden, the Montenegrin goalkeeper played in North Macedonia and Serbia.
