“We Are Already Victors: Rejecting the Humiliation of Nikšić by Marko Kovačević and His Associates”

At the final convention, Ivan Radojičić, the head of the European Union list in Nikšić, stated, “There is no new government in Nikšić without the European Union,” and emphasized that he would not accept a humiliated Nikšić under Marko Kovačević and his associates.

“We are already winners. We are winners because we constructively engaged in dialogue to create a vision for Nikšić’s future. We excelled in past debates. We are winners because we demonstrated education and constructive dialogue. We are winners because we chose not to insult the vulnerable. We are winners, my friends, because we fulfilled our civic duty by standing against dishonor and declaring that enough is enough… We are winners because we are our own people and controlling our destiny,” Radojičić remarked, expressing gratitude for the tremendous energy during the campaigns and noting their comprehensive efforts in the city under Trebjes.

He continued, “We presented constructive solutions, offered thoughtful suggestions, and aimed to foster a modern and European Nikšić based on facts… I promise again tonight from this platform that I will not betray or mislead a single resident of Nikšić, regardless of their political stance or affiliations.”

Radojičić highlighted, “Everyone understands what a vote for Marko Kovačević and Andrija Mandić signifies.”

“It’s a vote that disrespects the legacy of Ljubo Čupić, a vote against our state symbols, a vote supportive of those who could endorse the suppression of Montenegrins, and a vote for a mayor so cowardly he cannot walk through his own city center without protection. It’s a vote for a coward hiding behind various immunities and avoiding public debates. Yet we must not forget that voting for Nemanja Vuković or the lost-in-translation doctor Mrkić is equally a vote for Marko Kovačević,” Radojičić stressed.

He further asserted that the European Union must deliver on its promises.

“We committed to restoring joy and vibrancy to the city, reflecting the legacy of hero Ljubo Čupić, the resilience of heroine Joka Baletić, the creativity of Vitomoir Nikolić, and the praised memory of Stana Višnjić, Marija Miladin Šobić, and the dream of Boža Koprivica Street,” Radojičić declared.

Addressing abstainers, he stated that their participation will determine the election outcome.

“We cannot remain silent or complacent bystanders to the evils threatening us. This is why I, along with many others here, chose to leave our comfort zones and fight against these threats until we send them into opposition and ultimately into the pages of history,” he asserted.

Nikola Zirojević, a candidate on the list, voiced confidence that the European Union would achieve an outstanding result, ousting the Kovačević government and playing a crucial role in establishing a new government in Nikšić.

“Looking out at this hall filled with sincere individuals who cherish Nikšić above all else gives me a stronger conviction than any poll could provide,” Zirojević remarked, noting how the European Union has consistently outperformed its competition since its inception.

Zirojević observed that the current government has not represented the interests of Nikšić.

“Nikšić now resembles a post-war Knin, as depicted in a series financed by our funds,” he said.

He criticized Marko Kovačević for downplaying efforts that undermined the civic essence of Nikšić and for bringing a rural mentality to the city, boasting about stifling its positive spirit.

Željko Nikolić, President of the Nikšić Municipal Board of the SDP and candidate on the list, stated that citizens have witnessed orchestrated attacks by the Kovačević-Vuković duo against the European Union and Radojičić, recognizing that a new government in Nikšić cannot emerge without the European Union’s involvement.

Nikolić remarked that Kovačević’s actions, alongside his primitive behavior and regressive politics, sought to dishonor the state, its symbols, Grahovac, Vučji do, and the people of Nikšić, and for this reason, the European Union will put him behind on Sunday.

Damir Šehović, President of the SD and a leader of the European Alliance, asserted that these elections represent not just a power struggle but a battle to reclaim Nikšić’s urban soul and restore dignity to the nation.

“On Sunday, we will liberate Nikšić! Following that, in early parliamentary elections, we will liberate all of Montenegro from those who have turned this city into a breeding ground for hatred, fostering division and harsh clericalism. The era of nationalism and primitivism is ending! We are entering a time when undermining Montenegro and all that is Montenegrin will no longer be tolerated from the highest municipal office,” he emphasized.

Ivan Vujović, President of SDP and leader within the European Alliance, expressed that the European Alliance is a reform movement poised to tackle modern challenges as well as the age-old scourge of nationalism and ignorance.

“Our cosmopolitan approach will prevail over their primitivism; our culture will overshadow their kitsch; our bright future will shine beyond their dark politics; the flow of Montenegrin progress will drown their stagnation; our liberated spirit will eclipse their servile mentality; our positivity and patriotism will triumph over their malice and disregard for our anthem; our 21st century will outshine their antiquated views,” Vujović proclaimed.

Vatroslav Belanka, President of the Liberal Party and a leader in the European Union, stated that the group stands firm in its values and commitments.

“Knowledge empowers you against ignorance, decency disarms the vulgar, wisdom renders the irrational obsolete, concrete proposals dismantle hollow rhetoric, and emancipation breaks the chains of backwards thinking. You are not just fighting for a political party, but championing a noble idea that we have nurtured for over three decades, with a patriotic heart guiding your unwavering commitment to defending and building a civic, anti-fascist, and modern Montenegro,” concluded Belan.
