    <p>The Center for Democratic Transition (CDT) has urged the Police Directorate to promptly investigate the incidents that occurred in Nikšić last night and to make all relevant details public.</p>

    <p>"It is crucial for the Police Directorate to act swiftly and effectively in identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the arson and damage to vehicles, especially in light of the upcoming local elections in Nikšić. Speculation surrounding potential political motives linked to this incident necessitates such action to alleviate any tensions that may arise on election day," the statement, attributed to executive director Dragan Koprivica, emphasizes.</p>

    <p>The CDT asserts that a peaceful electoral process governed by rules is the cornerstone of democratic governance. Incidents possibly characterized by violence close to elections fall significantly short of international standards for a fair electoral process.</p>

    <p>"The primary responsibility of state bodies is to maintain an active engagement with potential offenders of election-related crimes while also avoiding excessive reactions that could be perceived as pressure during the electoral process. Their foremost goal should be to facilitate a lawful election process while ensuring a sense of security for all participants and citizens of Nikšić," it elaborates.</p>

    <p>The CDT reminds the citizens of Nikšić of their right to vote according to their beliefs and that no one has the right to utilize illegal tactics to influence their decision about voting, including whether or not to vote.</p>

    <p>"We also call on the electoral lists participating in the local elections in Nikšić, along with their supporters and activists, to act within the law, abstain from violence, and allow voters to vote freely and without obstruction," the statement concludes.</p>
