An Opportunity Montenegro Should Seize

The Minister of Sports and Youth, Dragoslav Šćekić, has formally inaugurated the European Senior Judo Championships, set to take place from April 23 to 27 at the “M:Tel Morača” Sports Center in Podgorica.
This Continental Judo Championship has attracted competitors from 47 nations, marking it as one of the largest sports events hosted by Montenegro.
Dragoslav Šćekić expressed pride in Montenegro being chosen to host the European Judo Championship and gratitude to those who placed their trust in the country. “This is a significant sporting event and an opportunity for us that I am confident we will seize effectively. With our renowned hospitality and excellent organization, we intend to create lasting memories and earn the chance to host more prestigious continental and potentially global competitions,” he stated.
He further highlighted the critical support provided by the Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Sports and Youth to the Judo Federation:
“This is the most significant sports competition Montenegro has ever arranged, and I trust that everything will proceed impeccably. The Ministry of Sports and Youth, along with the Government of Montenegro, fully supports the leadership of the Judo Federation to ensure this success.”
The opening ceremony also featured attendees such as Dušan Simonović, President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Jovica Rečević, President of the Judo Federation of Montenegro, along with various athletes and dignitaries from both within and outside the country.
According to the announcement, the European Judo Championships present a significant opportunity to showcase Montenegro as a credible host for major sporting events and to further develop judo in the nation.
