The only reason the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) might question whether citizens with dual citizenship are casting their votes in Montenegro is that they have permitted it for decades, stated Democratic MP Anđela Vojinović.
“Every arrest signifies that DPS has lost yet another corrupt activist who manipulated elections in Montenegro. We fully endorse, and Montenegro adheres to, strictly legal and legitimate electoral processes. We are confident that DPS would prefer to maintain control over the electoral outcomes and final results, as they have done for the past thirty years. Perhaps they should relocate their party to Venezuela or Syria,” she remarked.
Recently, Andrija Nikolić, the head of the DPS parliamentary group, provided a statement to the Regional Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nikšić, acting as a citizen. He submitted a list of 206 voters who the party has reasonable grounds to suspect are registered on the electoral rolls of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, violating the law by exercising their voting rights in two different countries.
