“A Transparent Police Force: Essential for an Honest State”
The recent arrest of a police officer on allegations of human trafficking underscores two crucial points:
Firstly, it highlights that the ongoing effort to thoroughly purify the security sector is unwavering, affirming that no individual is immune to scrutiny, irrespective of rank, position, or years of service.
Secondly, it demonstrates that we now possess a system that no longer overlooks those suspected of undermining the integrity of the uniform, but instead steadfastly pursues justice.
I would particularly like to acknowledge the officers of the Police Directorate and the relevant authorities for reinforcing the principle that nobody stands above the law.
Arresting colleagues is no small feat, yet it is essential for the police to uphold their credibility.
A transparent police force is essential for a transparent state.
Though we face various challenges, both political and media-related, I convey a strong message: We will not relent.
We will continue until every uniform is free from criminal influences.
I urge the Minister of the Interior and the Director of the Police Directorate to swiftly proceed with the suspension of all officers against whom there is credible suspicion of involvement in criminal activities.
This is not for the sake of statistics. Not under external pressure. But for the honest police officers and the citizens of Montenegro.
Montenegro has made its commitment: it will never again be a nation where the badge is worn by those who have betrayed the law they vowed to uphold.
