Five Foreign-Owned Vehicles Damaged in Nikšić; Increased Police Presence Planned

The Police Directorate reported that several vehicles owned by foreign nationals were vandalized in various areas of Nikšić last night.

According to law enforcement officials, the incidents occurred following a rally organized by the coalition For the Future of Nikšić at Freedom Square in Nikšić.

The Police Directorate stated that their officers in Nikšić are implementing extensive measures in collaboration with the prosecutor’s office to identify those responsible and ascertain the details surrounding these incidents.

Marko Kovačević, the leader of the coalition For the Future of Nikšić, mentioned in a press conference earlier today in the Parliament of Montenegro that some of the damaged vehicles were owned by Montenegrin citizens.

“To prevent similar occurrences in the future, the Police Directorate plans to enhance police visibility in the upcoming days and allocate additional resources from various departments, including members of the Special Police Unit, the Crime Prevention Sector, and the General Police Sector from headquarters. The primary aim is to ensure the safety of Nikšić’s citizens, uphold public order and peace, and improve the safety oversight of road users,” the police detailed.

They reiterated their commitment to taking all necessary actions to swiftly identify individuals responsible for damaging private property, emphasizing that the Police Directorate will respond impartially, legally, and without bias in all incidents.

“We urge citizens to avoid violence and any illegal activities, and to foster a collaborative environment that upholds the rule of law, contributing to societal stability. The Police Directorate will take preventive, proactive, and responsive measures to monitor crime trends and maintain public order and peace,” the statement concluded.
