The Opening Act of the Finale
This season, Jadran clinched the Cup while competing in both the Champions League and the Eurocup. Primorac, after their exit from international tournaments, achieved their primary objective of returning to the regional Premier League. Now, all of that is set aside as they prepare for the ultimate clash in the domestic championship.
Novljani and Kotorani are vying for the Montenegrin champion’s cup. The reigning champions are the water polo players from Škver, but the players in the ancient city believe it’s time to reclaim the throne they last held in 2008.
The first match of the final takes place today at 5 PM in Herceg Novi, with subsequent matches scheduled for May 7 in Kotor and again on May 11 in Škver. The champion will be the team that secures three victories; any potential fourth and fifth matches would occur on the 15th and 18th, respectively.
– Our main objective is to defend the title and maintain our continuity – stated Jadran’s leader, Vasilije Radović, who added:
– We are considered the favorites, but Primorac has demonstrated significant improvement in their game. The Kotor team is swimming very well, just like us, and in our previous encounter, they excelled with their counterattacks. This time, we need to turn the tide; we must avoid easy goals and minimize defensive errors. We have been training rigorously over the past two to three weeks in preparation for this final, and we will see who has prepared better – emphasized Radović.
Primorac is looking for a breakthrough that could bring them closer to the cup, and this promises to be one of the more exciting final series in recent seasons.
– We gained substantial confidence from our last match. Prior to that, we performed admirably in the derby in Herceg Novi, though we suffered a loss. I see the team is focused and fully engaged, and we will all do our utmost to secure the title – asserted Primorac representative, Marko Mršić.
Details will be crucial in this final series…
– The atmosphere is fantastic, and we are feeling confident. Our centers are excelling, and I believe we can match the Adriatic in swimming, which is their strongest asset. We need to respond effectively. If we can push Novlja into a positional attack, we will have a great chance. This series is lengthy, and anything can happen, but we’re prepared to challenge for the title, and I think it’s time to win it – concluded Mršić.
