Montenegrin boxer Tomislav Đinović has secured the gold medal at the esteemed Brussels Capital Tournament held in La Hulpe, a suburb near the Belgian capital.
A member of the Zlatičanin Boxing Club, Đinović triumphed in the final match of the 60-kilogram category, overcoming Indian boxer Dikshant Dahi by stoppage in the third round.
From the outset of the fight, Đinović showcased his dominance, culminating in the third round with a powerful strike that knocked his competitor to the canvas.
Unable to recover, Dahi prompted the referee to halt the match.
Additionally, Montenegro was represented at the Brussels tournament by Bojana Gojković, who earned a bronze medal in the under 60-kilogram division.
Coach Nikola Ružić expressed immense pride in the Montenegrin national team’s performance at this competitive event in Belgium.
“This success is a testament to the hard work and commitment shown in training. The tournament highlighted our capability to compete with the elite, while also revealing areas for improvement. Our performance in Brussels was crucial for assessing our form and identifying our next steps,” Ružić stated.
He noted that Gojković competed in a weight class above her usual but will focus solely on the 60-kilogram category moving forward.
“Compared to the tournament in Azerbaijan three weeks ago, Djinovic’s form has significantly improved. We are steadfastly working towards our primary objective for the year, which is the World Senior Championships in Liverpool this September,” Ružić added.
The tournament in Belgium featured top male and female boxers from numerous countries, including France, Australia, Italy, Poland, India, Serbia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Kosovo, Montenegro, and the host nation, Belgium.
