Rijeka’s Loss Opens the Door for Hajduk to Reclaim the Top Spot, with Dinamo’s Opportunity as Well
This season, Rijeka’s football players continue to struggle with the so-called minor games.
The team, managed by Montenegrin coach Radomir Đalović, faced a defeat against Slaven (2:1) in their recent away match, putting their position at risk of losing the first spot to Hajduk after the 27th round of the Croatian championship.
Currently, Rijeka holds a narrow lead of one point ahead of tomorrow’s clash between Split and Šibenik at Poljud.
Đalović’s squad initially took the lead with a goal from Toni Fruk in the 17th minute, but the momentum shifted towards the home team midway through the second half.
Alen Grgić found the equalizer in the 64th minute, and Ivan Dolček ultimately changed the course of the game for Belupo.
This situation opens the door for Dinamo Zagreb to re-enter the race, as they have a game in hand and are currently five points behind Rijeka.
Dinamo is set to face Varaždin away on Sunday.
