Svetlana Broz: Cardiologist, Humanitarian, and More Than Tito’s Granddaughter
While she took pride in her surname, it’s important not to define Svetlana Broz’s life solely through the legacy of her renowned grandfather.
Broz, who passed away on March 22 at the age of 69, was not only a prominent cardiologist and physician, but also a human rights advocate and the author of the celebrated book Good People in an Evil Time: Portraits of Complicity and Resistance in the Bosnian War.
Additionally, she was the granddaughter of Josip Broz Tito, the Partisan leader who established socialist Yugoslavia from the aftermath of World War II and remained its head until his death in 1980.
