Aivo Orav, the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, remarked today that both Kosovo and Serbia view joining the European Union as a significant objective. However, he noted that membership is unimaginable without the normalization of relations between the two parties.

Orav emphasized, “I cannot envision Serbia or Kosovo joining the European Union without establishing normalized relations,” during his comments to RTK.

He underscored the importance of this process for promoting stability and facilitating integration into the EU.

“The financial aid or resources we provide merely serve as tools to assist in implementing reforms and preparing both entities for EU membership,” he pointed out.

Regarding the establishment of a new government in Kosovo, Orav mentioned that this process can often extend well beyond the election period.

He acknowledged concerns about the protracted nature of this process in Kosovo but stressed, “What matters most is that the preferences of all voters are duly recognized.”

According to Orav, it is critical for the election outcomes to mirror the desires of the citizens, irrespective of how long it takes to finalize institutional formations.
