The Montenegrin men’s cadet handball team concluded their participation in the Mediterranean Championship in Ankara with a fifth-place finish.
Today, they triumphed over Kosovo with a score of 16:15 in the match for fifth place.
This victory allowed them to avenge their earlier defeat to the same team in the group stage of the championship.
The squad, comprising players born in 2006 and 2007 and coached by Filip Popović and Draško Mrvaljević, wrapped up the tournament with a mixed record of four wins and four losses.
During the group stage, they secured victories against France, Tunisia, and Iraq but were defeated by Kosovo, Croatia, Turkey, and Romania.
In the match against Kosovo, Vuk Lalošević stood out as the top scorer with five goals, while Aleksa Knežević contributed four goals.
For Kosovo, Granit Kadiri was the leading scorer with four goals.
The performance at the Mediterranean Championship serves as a valuable opportunity for this generation, as they prepare for the Under-18 European Championship set to take place in Podgorica this August.
