A full “Morača” awaits, a ticket to the World Cup is at stake, and there’s a burning desire to showcase their skills against the rival that delivered a handball lesson in Konversan last Thursday. Added to this is a significant motivation—a victory dedicated to one of the team’s symbols.

Tomorrow (Sunday, at 17:30), Montenegro will face Italy in the rematch of the play-off for World Cup qualification. The “lions” are aiming for a margin of plus seven after their defeat of 26:XNUMX, which would secure their spot in the global championship. They aim to honor Nemanja Grbović in his final match in the red jersey.

“It will feel strange, but I believe I’ve given my all at every moment. I hope to have a wonderful farewell and that this generation can achieve one more world championship,” stated Grbović.

The renowned pivot feels now is the right time to bid farewell.

“I’ve been around for many years, and it’s time for younger players to step up. I will certainly miss the national team,” Grbović expressed.

Before parting ways with his teammates, the celebrated Pljevljak is determined to help Montenegro qualify for another major tournament—its tenth since regaining independence.

“I expect a much improved performance and a place at the World Championship,” Grbović stated confidently.

He also believes the match played in southern Italy was one of the poorer performances by this generation.

“We are capable of much more. While we knew the Italians would be competitive, we’re not sure why we performed poorly—whether it was fatigue or underestimating them, despite our warnings,” Grbović highlighted.

Minus six is a challenging deficit…

“That’s true, but we have the rematch in ‘Morača’. I believe we can turn it around—anything is possible, and I have faith we will succeed.”

Montenegro’s defense in Konversan left much to be desired, even with a strong performance from goalkeeper Nebojša Simić.

“We need to play significantly better defense than in the first match. That’s our hallmark, and if we perform at that level, I don’t foresee issues in either defense or attack. Everything starts with our defense,” Grbović concluded.
