The Montenegrin boxing team wrapped up its participation at the international junior tournament Greatest Open in Lazarevac with a total of eight medals - four gold, two silver, and two bronze.

This impressive performance led them to be named the most successful team among seven participating nations.

Gold medals were awarded to Luka Otašević, Strahinja Mrdak, Andrija Nikitović, and Matija Roganović. Silver medals went to Nikola Raičević and Andrija Ćeranić, while Veselin Dedić and Nikola Nenezić took home bronze medals.

Coach Nikola Ružić expressed his satisfaction with the Montenegrin juniors' performances at this competitive international tournament in Lazarevac.

"Being named the best team of the tournament, having secured four gold medals, demonstrates that our juniors are remarkably skilled and experienced for their age and are competing at a serious level. We aim to expose them to numerous high-quality international tournaments and training camps this year to help them reach their full potential," Ružić remarked.

Ružić was supported by coaches Boško Drašković and Slavko Mrdak as part of the coaching team.

Matija Roganović achieved his gold medal triumph in spectacular fashion, knocking out all three of his opponents in the 80-kilogram category.

In the final match, he forced Serbian national team member Vasilije Kovčić to quit in the first round, avenging his teammate Nikola Nenezić’s loss in the semifinals.

After winning in the semifinals against local fighter Lazar Milić by unanimous decision, Luka Otašević went on to defeat Greek fighter Alexandros Konstantinoudis with a commanding 46:2 decision for the gold in the 1 kg category.

Strahinja Mrdak also excelled, winning against Serbian national team member Ljubo Mitrović by stoppage in the first round of the 50 kg category final.

Previously, he had eliminated Greek competitor Zikos Dimostenis in the semifinals.

Nikitović secured gold in the 52-kilogram category with two dominant victories over Hungarian national team members - Enrique Lakatos and Tamas Onodi.

Nikola Raičević (under 48) and Andrija Ćeranić (under 66) both had to settle for silver medals after losing in the finals, to Pavle Popović from Serbia and Hungarian Levente Turos, respectively.

On the path to the finals, Veselin Dedić faced elimination (up to 70) by Serbian national team member Vuk Čedić, while Nikola Nenezić was also stopped by compatriot Vasilije Kovčić through judges' decisions.
