Buducnost Voli secured a decisive victory over Novo Mesto (99:91), marking their 25th win, which is the key takeaway from the match against Krk in the 28th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
The “Blues” are inching closer to clinching the top spot ahead of the playoffs. Regardless of Partizan’s performance in the last two rounds, one win will ensure their leading position.
“Our objective was to win, and we accomplished that. I had warned them about this match, but initially, there was a lack of focus and defensive intensity. Fortunately, we corrected that in the 3rd quarter, where we played significantly better, built a substantial lead, and held onto it until the end,” remarked coach Andrej Žakelj.
Krka managed to score 49 points in the first half.
“We had prepared for Krka’s one-on-one and pick-and-roll strategies. We failed to recognize some of their plays, and our help defense was lacking, which we had discussed prior to the game. We were too lenient, as evidenced by our opponent’s two-point shooting percentage. The home team posed significant challenges until we increased our aggressiveness and converted a few easy points from solid defense,” Žakelj emphasized.
