Today, another decoupage workshop took place at the Red Cross Bijelo Polje facilities, organized under the activities of the Club for the Elderly.

According to the organization, these ongoing workshops aim to offer older citizens a chance for creative expression while also fostering socialization and mental well-being.

“The participants demonstrated remarkable creativity through decoupage—a technique of decorating objects using motifs cut from napkins and paper—and enjoyed spending time together, sharing experiences in a positive atmosphere,” stated Ivana Bulatović, a social worker and workshop facilitator at the Red Cross.

She noted that the group utilized the decoupage technique to collaboratively create unique decorative items.

“However, the most significant takeaway from the workshop was the joy, companionship, and community spirit. These workshops provide much more than just crafting; they enhance community bonds, elevate spirits, and restore a sense of worth among our elderly citizens,” Bulatović emphasized.

Workshop participant Mileva Drobnjak expressed her excitement about both the workshop and the social interactions.

“I was surprised to see that I could create something so beautiful. I eagerly anticipate each session because I feel valued and accepted here, leaving with a smile every time,” remarked Drobnjak.

Volunteers also contributed to the workshop, consistently aiding in organization, supporting participants, and adding warmth to each gathering.

“Such workshops provide a wonderful opportunity to connect with our older citizens, learn from one another, and create beautiful things together. I always leave these sessions enriched with new experiences and lovely memories. Every meeting opens a new avenue for connection, sharing, and smiles,” shared volunteer Sara Raković.

The municipal Red Cross encourages all elderly citizens to join them in creating shared memories, announcing upcoming workshops and gatherings.
