Montenegrin President Announces Boost in Minimum Wage
It is essential to raise minimum wages, but this increase should be applied uniformly without any discrimination, stated Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović.
“The consumer basket is the same for everyone. Therefore, the minimum salary needs to be increased equally for all,” Milatović expressed on platform X, as reported by Mine Agency.
He mentioned that the minimum wage has considerably lost its purchasing power in the recent past.
“Currently, minimum earnings can only cover 50 percent, or half, of the consumer basket. This indicates that due to significant price increases, a portion of the population is facing social hardship,” Milatović concluded.
