Đorđe Milićević, the Serbian government's minister without a portfolio, spoke out today regarding the aggressive attack on Milan Knežević from the People's Party, a notable advocate and protector of the Serbian community in Montenegro.

"Milan Knežević was targeted due to his efforts that promote unity among the Montenegrin and Serbian peoples, which are essential for peaceful coexistence," Minister Milićević remarked.

The minister emphasized that this attack on Milan Knežević is part of an ongoing campaign against him from certain groups who are disturbed by his defense of Serbian rights and cultural identity, as well as his advocacy for the rule of law.

"Authorities must not only identify the attackers but also ensure they face justice swiftly," concluded Minister Milićević in his statement.

Knežević was assaulted at Podgorica Airport yesterday, and he subsequently reported the incident to local law enforcement. He mentioned that an unknown assailant insulted him without provocation, and his driver intervened to prevent a physical confrontation, stating it was a politically motivated attack.

Following Knežević's report, Ivan Gardašević (34) from Cetinje was apprehended but was released this morning after being held for questioning late into the night.
