“Budva and Budućnost Compete for the Cup for the Fifth Consecutive Time”

The concluding series of the EPCG Volleyball Super League is set to commence with a match at MSC Budva on Tuesday, April 15th, at 6 PM. In this encounter, the Budva volleyball team aims to secure their seventh consecutive Montenegrin championship title, while Buducnost is on the hunt for a groundbreaking achievement.

This matchup marks the fourth clash of the season between these storied rivals, who previously vied for the Montenegrin Cup, with their last meeting in Budva occurring at the end of March. As the host, Budva enters as the favorite, having only surrendered one set to the Podgorica team thus far.

“We are anticipating an intense battle—this final embodies the pinnacle of the season and serves as an opportunity to showcase the character, team spirit, and quality we’ve cultivated throughout the championship. Each match holds significant weight, and the team is prepared to deliver its utmost on the court. The support from our fans is invaluable—we are united in our pursuit of victory,” stated Budva coach Miljan Bošković.

Despite being hampered by the absence of their star player, national team member Ivan Zvicer, who is sidelined due to health issues that were felt during the Cup final, the Podgorica team is optimistic that the emerging talents within the squad will shine through.

“Following the shock we experienced just before the Cup final with Ivan Zvicer’s absence—someone who has not only showcased exceptional playing skills but has also been a leader on the court—we’ve now steadied ourselves and come to terms with the situation. We have been training diligently, ready to put forth our best performance with the roster available. In the Cup final, we demonstrated the quality of our team, and with some adjustments in various areas, we have reasons to be hopeful in the final series of the championship. We anticipate a series of high-quality matches for the trophy, featuring numerous young players on both teams,” commented Budućnost coach Dejan Radić.

The champion of Montenegro will be determined by the first team to achieve three wins.
