Montenegrin boxer Tomislav Đinović did not reach the semifinals at the Great Silk Way international tournament held in Baku.

He lost to local competitor Tagi Nasibov in the quarterfinals of the 60 kg category via a split decision.

In the round of 16, Đinović successfully eliminated Kazakhstan’s Chingiz Musinov.

Momčilo Zlatičanin, the coach of Đinović, remarked that the experience gained at the Baku tournament was significant for his young boxer.

“Although Đinović was eliminated in the quarterfinals, he made a strong impression and demonstrated that he is capable of competing at this level. The nuances of the match were what decided the outcome against the Azerbaijani boxer. Each round was fiercely contested, and the experience we gained here is invaluable,” Zlatičanin stated.

He noted that these two challenging fights would be beneficial for Đinović, particularly as this was his first tournament following a break.

“It is evident that he still needs to reach his optimal form. At this stage, we achieved our goal—to leave a positive impression and acquire valuable experience,” said Zlatičanin.

The bronze medalist from the last European Championship was Montenegro’s sole representative at this event, which featured over 200 fighters from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and the host country, Azerbaijan.
