The Budva volleyball team gained a 3-1 advantage in the EPCG Super League playoffs final series after defeating Buducnost with scores of 25:14 (25:18, 26:24, 25:18, 2:0) at SC “Morača”. They will have a chance to clinch their seventh consecutive title in front of their supporters on Monday.
In a much more thrilling game compared to their opening final match, Budva dominated the first set, winning it in under 20 minutes with a score of 25:14. The home team made it clear they weren’t planning to concede as they put up a stronger fight in the next set.
Initially, Buducnost put forth greater resistance against the reigning champions, but they couldn’t level the score as Budva took the second set 25:18. The third set saw Buducnost not conceding any match points to their opponents. Although Dejan Radić’s young squad was trailing for a portion of the third set, they managed to reverse the tide, defending against Budva’s attempts to conclude the match. The blue-and-whites capitalized on their second set point to take their first set in the series with a score of 26:24, making it 2:1.
However, that was all the momentum Podgorica could muster, as Budva, led by the highly motivated Vasilije Milenković, quickly regained the upper hand, maintaining a lead of approximately four points before closing out the match with a score of 25:18.
Vasilije Milenković shone brightest with an impressive 26 points. For Budva, captain Balša Radunović contributed 17 points, while Miro Miljanić also crossed into double digits with 12 points. On the opposing team, Aleksa Nikolić scored 13 points, and Luka Lojić added 11 points.
The upcoming third match of the series will take place in Budva on Monday, April 21st, starting at 18:00.
