I am confident that we will be completely prepared by next week.

The Montenegro national water polo team will engage in two official matches during their joint training sessions with the United States team. These matches are scheduled to take place on the night between June 12 and 13 in Los Angeles, and again on June 14 and 15 in San Diego, as announced by the Water Polo Swimming Association.

According to reports, the Montenegrin athletes are enjoying excellent training conditions in Los Angeles as they prepare alongside the USA team.

“The plan devised by the US coach aligns well with our needs. We have an ample number of hours allocated for pool time and associated facilities. Each morning, we will train independently for part of the session, and then join the American team for the remainder. Additionally, we will participate in several practice matches,” Gojković stated.

The following players are currently training in Los Angeles: Dejan Lazović, Konstantin Averka, Aljoša Mačić, Vlado Popadić, Stefan Vidović, Đuro Radović, Vladan Spaić, Dušan Matković, Vasilije Radović, Petar Tešanović, Marko Mršić, Jovan Vujović, Darko Đurović, Bogdan Đurđić, and Martin Gardašević, along with Danilo Radović, Andrija Korać, and Dimitrije Obradović.

“We are still awaiting the full recovery of Đuro Radović and Vladan Spaić, who are not yet available for play. I believe they will be fully fit by next week,” Gojković commented.

Miroslav Perković and Dušan Banićević are missing the USA training due to club commitments, while Luka Murišić, Uroš Vučurović, Đorđije Stanojević, Ilija Radović, and Lazar Andrić are on the extended list of candidates for the Olympic Games.

Captain Petar Tešanović emphasized that the players endured tough seasons, having competed in both the World and European Championships while balancing club responsibilities.

“We are now facing new challenges; currently, we are training in America, where we have optimal conditions for preparation. We have a significant journey behind us but have quickly acclimatized and are ready to maximize our efforts over the next ten days,” Tešanović remarked.

During the upcoming Olympic tournament in Paris, the Montenegrin water polo team will compete in Group A, which includes Croatia, Italy, Greece, the USA, and Romania.

Group B consists of Serbia, Spain, Hungary, Australia, Japan, and France.

The top four teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals. The Olympic Games are set to take place from July 26 to August 11.
