Radović and Nurković Finish Medalless on Opening Day of Competition
Montenegrin judokas Petar Radović and Jusuf Nurković concluded the first day of competition at the European Senior Championships in Podgorica without securing a medal.
Both athletes participated in the 66 kilogram weight category.
Radović achieved a victory over Jakub Kurowski from Poland by a single point in his opening match, but was defeated by Russian competitor Murad Chopanov in the subsequent round.
Nurković was outperformed by Ivan Černih from Russia.
Tomorrow, Jahja Nurković is set to compete in the 73 kg category against Vlado Mitru from Moldova.
On Friday, brothers Nikola and Nebojša Gardašević will take part in the 81 kilogram category.
Nikola’s first match will be against the winner of the encounter between Georgi Gramatikov from Bulgaria and Dos Santos from Luxembourg, while Nebojša will face Hristo Valkov from Bulgaria.
Also on that day, Novo Raičević will be on the tatami in the 90 kg category, competing against Aleks Barta from Slovakia.
In the over 100 kilogram division, Slobodan Vukić will go up against Movli Borchasvili from Austria on Saturday.
Additionally, Jovana Peković (under 78 kg) and Jovana Mrvaljević (over 78 kg) are scheduled to perform on Saturday.
Peković will face off against Ana Monta Olek from Germany in her opening match, while Mrvaljević will take on Maria Holevart from Austria.
The championship will conclude on Sunday with a team competition, marking the debut of the Montenegrin national team.
Preliminary bouts will commence each day at ten o’clock, with the final program slated for 4 p.m.
The official opening ceremony is set for tomorrow at 3 p.m.
