Viktor Wembanyama is keen to compete in EuroBasket 2025.
The center for San Antonio and the French national team is gearing up for the championship in Europe, scheduled from August 27 to September 14, across Latvia, Cyprus, Finland, and Poland.
Wembanyama will be sidelined for part of the NBA season due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, a condition that was identified after the All-Star Game.
“We had discussions with Victor prior to his surgery — he is enthusiastic about joining the team. We will monitor his physical recovery and make a decision when the time is right. Currently, everything is uncertain. However, he is feeling positive and his rehabilitation is progressing well. The national team’s general manager, Boris Dia, met with Zachary Risache and Alexandre Sarr during a visit to the U.S. this season, and they expressed their desire to be a part of the team,” stated national team head coach Frederic Fotu.
