Italy-Montenegro Business Forum Scheduled for Early Summer

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić wrapped up his inaugural official visit to Rome with a meeting alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tajani. During their discussion, Tajani reiterated Italy’s robust support for Montenegro’s journey towards Europe and the nation’s overall development.

Building on prior conversations with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister Spajić and Minister Tajani agreed to organize a Montenegro–Italy Business Forum in early summer. Both officials recognized the opportunities present and emphasized the need to capitalize on them in order to boost their economies and enhance bilateral relations.

The meeting also addressed the current security situation in Europe, with a mutual focus on Montenegro’s alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, especially regarding support for Ukraine.

Prime Minister Spajić asserted Montenegro’s clear stance as a reliable, credible, and trustworthy partner—one that others can rely upon.

On the subject of developments in the Western Balkans, the Prime Minister highlighted that EU membership prospects and economic advancement are crucial stabilizing factors. He reaffirmed Montenegro’s goal of joining the European Union during Italy’s presidency in early 2028.

Deputy Prime Minister Tajani expressed his full support for Montenegro’s aspirations and assured that Italy would continue to be a strong ally in this endeavor.

He also invited Prime Minister Spajić to participate in the forthcoming Italofonia.
