Authorities Discover 30 Kilograms of Marijuana in Berane

The police in Berane discovered and confiscated more than 30 kilograms of marijuana while conducting a search in the Lubnice area.
“Thanks to the proactive efforts of officers from the Regional Security Center ‘North’ aimed at tackling drug smuggling and distribution, over 30 kilograms of marijuana intended for sale was located and seized,” they stated.
“Yesterday, officers from the Berane Security Department executed a search in Lubnice, located near the Berane – Kolašin regional road, where they discovered three PVC bags containing packages of green plant material resembling marijuana in a nearby forest,” said the Police Directorate in a statement.
Forensic examinations revealed that the narcotics were packaged into several smaller parcels distributed across three larger bags, one holding 11 kg and the other two each containing 10 kg, totaling 30.802 kg of marijuana.
“The incident has been reported to the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje, and acting under his directive, the police have lodged a criminal complaint against unidentified individuals for illegal production, possession, and distribution of narcotics,” the statement continued.
The confiscated substance will undergo further forensic examination, as stated by the police, who emphasized that officers from the Regional Security Center “North” are continuing their measures and actions to identify, locate, and prosecute the offenders with the goal of dismantling the drug distribution network and safeguarding public health and safety.
