Partizan Falls in Dubai as Buducnost Reclaims a Share of First Place
The Budućnost Voli basketball team reclaimed the top spot in the AdmiralBet ABA League after a brief stint in second place, following a loss to Mega just ten days ago.
In the 69th round, the Podgorica squad triumphed over Borac with a score of 86-23, while Partizan faced a defeat, resulting in both teams having identical records of 20 wins and three losses.
The “Black and Whites” suffered a setback in the derby match in Dubai, losing 80-72, which snapped their impressive nine-game winning streak in the regional league.
The newcomer to the ABA League maintained control from the outset, often holding a double-digit lead. However, in the latter part of the final quarter, Partizan managed to cut the deficit to just three points (63-60), before veteran Slovenian player Klemen Prepelič sealed the game with five consecutive points.
Dubai, boasting an 18-5 record, was propelled by Avudu Abbas, who scored 14 points, along with Danilo Andjusic’s 13 and Nate Mason’s 12 points. Partizan’s top scorer was Karlik Jones with 16 points.
Both Budućnost and Partizan face a challenging schedule for the remainder of the regular season, with Belgrade seemingly having the tougher path. They are set to clash again at the “M:tel Morača Hall” in mid-April.
