The Government Allocates Nearly 72.8 Million Euros for Road Maintenance, Reconstruction, and Construction.

Today, the Government approved the Program for the Construction, Reconstruction, Maintenance, and Protection of Main and Regional Roads for this year, allocating nearly 72.8 million euros for regular and investment maintenance, as well as reconstruction and construction of state roads.
The Ministry of Transport emphasized that having modern and safe roads is essential for improving internal and international connectivity, enhancing tourist access, and ultimately fostering the country’s economic development.
“To improve connectivity within the country, we plan to continue and initiate several projects aimed at the construction and reconstruction of main and regional roads this year,” the government department stated.
They noted that this demonstrates their commitment to developing and enhancing main and regional roads, despite focusing primarily on the growth of highways and expressways.
“The Government has adopted the Program for the Construction, Reconstruction, Maintenance, and Protection of Main and Regional Roads for this year, which allocates 72,779,013 euros for regular and investment maintenance, along with the reconstruction and construction of state roads,” the statement highlighted.
The Ministry indicated that the program aims to continue or commence the construction and reconstruction of approximately 323 kilometers (km) of regional and main roads, which represents 16 percent of the total length of main and regional roads; specifically, 130 km in the northern region, 135 km in the central region, and 58 km in the coastal region.
As articulated, the program is structured into three subprograms.
The first sub-program focuses on the reconstruction of main and regional roads in Montenegro, comprising 54 positions (construction, reconstruction, design, and supervision), with allocated financial resources of roughly 47.8 million euros.
The second sub-program addresses transport network bottlenecks in Montenegro, consisting of three construction and reconstruction projects, with planned financial resources amounting to 5.24 million euros.
The third sub-program, as specified by the Ministry, pertains to the rehabilitation of bridges, landslides, and slopes on main and regional roads, including 15 projects aimed at rehabilitating landslides, slopes, and bridges, with an estimated financial allocation of around 6.74 million euros.
