The journey towards Paris commenced for the host nation at the tournament in Ulm, as Germany’s handball team triumphed over Slovenia with a score of 31:25, marking the beginning of the Olympic Games qualifications.
This outcome means that the Slovenian women, guided by our iconic coach Dragan Adžić, will face Montenegro in a crucial match on Sunday to secure qualification for the Games, provided they first overcome Paraguay.
Throughout the match, Adžić’s girls fought hard to establish a foothold, yet Markus Gaugiš’s squad maintained control of the game for the full 60 minutes.
The Germans largely maintained a lead of three to four goals throughout the match, eventually securing a six-goal advantage by the end.
Today, Adžić and his players struggled to contain Julija Majdhof, the right back of Ramnka Vlčea, who netted nine goals against Slovenia.
Alongside her, the standout performers in the German team included Ksenija Smits with six goals, and both Alina Grijsels and Joana Marija Stockslader with four goals each.
Conversely, nearly half of Slovenia’s goals (11) came from Ana Gros, while Nataša Ljepoja scored five times for the home side.
