During the match against Serbia in Vienna, Serbian international Marko Arnautović experienced a panic attack, which occurred in the first leg of the Nations League A play-offs.
He reported feeling extremely nauseous and dizzy throughout the match, which ended in a 1:1 draw last night.
Arnautović played a key role in the home team’s initial goal, with Luka Samardžić scoring the equalizer later in the match.
The second leg is scheduled for Sunday in Belgrade.
“I felt a lot of pressure in my upper stomach, and at the same time, I had a panic attack; I couldn’t explain why. The doctors quickly assessed me, provided treatment to help me feel better, and soon I was back to normal, allowing me to continue playing,” Arnautović shared with Bild.
The Inter Milan striker suggested that the panic attack might have contributed to the sharp pain he experienced in his knee.
“Suddenly, I felt nauseous and dizzy. It could have been related to my knee, as I felt a sharp pain in my kneecap. However, after that, everything returned to normal, and I resumed playing,” he added.
Arnautović acknowledged his absence from the game…
“I take full responsibility for it; it’s my fault,” he stated.
