Italy-Montenegro Business Forum Scheduled for Early Summer
The Prime Minister, Milojko Spajić, wrapped up his inaugural official visit to Rome by meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani. During this meeting, Tajani reiterated Italy’s robust support for Montenegro’s European journey and the country’s overall advancement.
Building on previous conversations with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister Spajić and Minister Tajani concurred to organize a Montenegro–Italy Business Forum in early summer. The potential is evident, and both leaders emphasized the necessity to capitalize on these opportunities to foster economic growth and enhance bilateral ties.
The meeting also addressed the current security dynamics in Europe, highlighting the significance of Montenegro’s alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, especially regarding support for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Spajić made it clear that Montenegro’s stance is unequivocal. He asserted that Montenegro is a reliable, credible, and predictable partner—one that others can depend on, he noted.
Regarding developments in the Western Balkans, the Prime Minister pointed out that the prospects for EU membership and economic growth serve as vital stabilizing elements. He reaffirmed Montenegro’s ambition to join the European Union during Italy’s presidency in early 2028.
Deputy Prime Minister Tajani voiced full support for Montenegro’s aspirations and assured that Italy will continue to be a steadfast ally in that pursuit.
He also invited Prime Minister Spajić to take part in the forthcoming Italofonia event.
