Ziceri and a Slow Start to the Second Half Hurt Us, But I’m Confident We’ll Improve Against Slovenia
The Montenegrin handball team struggled against Germany, suffering a defeat of 28:24 in the second round of the Olympic qualifiers. Despite the ten-point loss, they still have a chance to secure their spot in Paris.
“I believe that our numerous missed opportunities in the first half, along with a weak start to the second half, were the main reasons for our defeat,” stated Matea Pletikosić after the match in Ulm.
Even with an outstanding performance from our central back, who scored nine out of nine attempts, the “lionesses” could not turn the tide.
“Throughout the game, we fought back and I want to commend my teammates for their effort. I am confident we will perform better tomorrow… I’m pleased we gave it our all and did not give up,” Matea expressed to RTCG.
A victory in tomorrow’s match against Slovenia will secure their qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris.
“We know Slovenia will challenge us, but we are clear about our goal. It shouldn’t be too daunting; this match showed that we can recover from a ten-point deficit to just minus four,” Matea concluded.
